What is a Sun Screen?
An Arizona sun screen is a special window screen mesh that is specially designed for sun control. It is the most effective way to control the sun's heat and glare by stopping the heat before it enters your window. Much like a big shade tree, an exterior sun screen will help reduce your cooling costs, reduce the load on your air conditioning, and help reduce glare and fading of home furnishings. Arizona sun screen fabric is extremely durable and pet resistant. Sun Screens are an extremely affordable way for Arizonans to reduce their energy costs and make their home more comfortable.

What are Sun Screens Benefits?
  • Cools Your Home or Other Living Space
An Arizona sun screen can cool problem rooms up to 15 degrees, making them much more comfortable in the hot Arizona summers.
  • Reduce Cooling Energy Costs
Independent Studies have shown that sun screens installed on exposed windows can reduce the cooling portion of electric energy costs as much as 30-35% on a typical home in Arizona. In many cases the 'payback' period can be as short as 1-2 years.
  • Protection from Fading
The UV rays blocked by sun screens can help protect your valuable home furnishings such as furniture, drapes, floors and paintings.
  • Daytime Privacy
With sun screens on your windows, it is very hard, if not impossible for people to see into your home during the daylight hours. Much like dark sunglasses, even though people can't see in, outward visibility can be excellent, especially with the darker color (black or brown) Suntex 80 Solar Screen.

How Does A Sun Screen Do All That?
Sun Screen material cools and protects by reducing heat and UV rays in a few ways. About 70% of the heat is absorbed by the screen, about 10% is reflected by the screen and another 10% dissipates because of the airflow coming through the screen.

What Type of Sun Screen is Available?
Sun Screens are available in either 80% or 90% fabric. An 80% fabric is 80% woven closed and 20% open. This allows the fabric to reject heat while still allowing clear visibility to the outside. A 90% fabric is 90% woven closed and 10% open. This offers the highest level of heat control but can be difficult to see through. Solar Screens are available in Black, Dark Brown, Stucco, Gray, or Tan.
